Mercedes electronic steering lock emulator with programming
This is a complete mail-in bench service for an applicable Mercedes with a diagnosed ESL failure. You receive an emulator programmed to your EIS and key, along with your original parts. An unprogrammed emulator still requires programming before it can work with your vehicle.

How the nationwide mail-in service works
- Confirm the diagnosis and order this service. Choose any optional spare key or shipping insurance in the product options above and select shipping at checkout.
- Send your EIS and one key fob. Include your order number. We do not need the failed factory ESL. If you have two keys, send only one; both will continue to work.
- We check and program your parts. We check that the EIS and key are functioning before programming the emulator. If there is an EIS or key problem, we contact you about the next step.
- Reinstall the returned parts. Your EIS, key and programmed emulator come back ready for plug-and-play installation on the supported vehicle.
After purchase, watch for the prepaid UPS label by email and check your spam folder. Use the shipping instructions supplied with your order. UPS Ground, UPS 2nd Day Air and UPS Next Day Air roundtrip options are available.
What is the turnaround time?
We normally program and return eligible packages the same day they arrive. Packages arriving after 4 p.m. Pacific time ship the following business day. An EIS or key issue may require follow-up before programming. Shipping transit time is additional and depends on the service selected at checkout.

Mercedes steering lock failure and no-start symptoms
An ESL fault can prevent start authorization. Possible symptoms include no crank or no start, missing normal ignition-on dash lights, a steering wheel that will not unlock, or a factory lock that remains unlocked after the key is removed.
These symptoms alone do not prove the ESL has failed. Battery, key, EIS, wiring and other faults can also cause starting problems. Read the EIS/EZS fault information with a suitable diagnostic tool and confirm the cause before buying parts. An emulator will not repair an unrelated no-start fault.

Emulator or factory steering lock?
The factory ESL contains a mechanical locking mechanism. The emulator provides the required electronic steering-lock response for the supported vehicle without operating that mechanism. After installation, the steering column will not mechanically lock when you remove the key. A lock stuck in the locked position still needs to be dealt with during installation; programming an emulator does not physically release it.

Optional spare key and shipping insurance

Local express bench service in Whittier
Local customers can bring the removed EIS and one key fob for express programming, usually about 20 minutes. The existing express service fee is $25 in addition to the service price, plus applicable tax. Call or text (818) 510-3375 for arrangements. If you have a California seller's permit, bring a copy.
