Description

Mercedes ME9.7 engine computer cloning

This mail-in service programs a compatible used Bosch ME9.7 engine control module for Mercedes applications with M272 V6 or M273 V8 engines. ECM and ECU are common names for the engine computer. Select the replacement-module option that matches your engine, or supply a compatible donor.

Compatibility and what to send

Check the ME9.7 identification and part numbers on the original ECM. A vehicle badge, model year or similar-looking case is not enough to confirm a replacement. If you are buying your own donor, have us confirm compatibility before purchasing or shipping it.

  • Original ECM communicates: send your original ECM and your compatible donor, unless you select a replacement ECM from us.
  • Original ECM is unreadable: select the EIS-based programming option and send the original Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS) instead. This option adds $50; confirm the application and package contents with us before shipping.
  • Need a donor: choose the 272 ECM V6 option for M272 or the 273 ECM V8 option for M273. The listed used ECM options carry a two-year warranty.

If you do not know your engine or module type, call/text (818) 510-3375 with your VIN and module-label details. Other controller families have their own ECM cloning service listings.

Check communication before choosing an option

The existing ME9.7 service uses communication with the original ECM to choose the cloning route. With a suitable diagnostic scanner, check whether you can access the engine module, often labeled ME (Motor Electronics), and read its fault codes. No communication can also involve the vehicle's power supply, wiring or network, so diagnose the fault before assuming that the ECM needs replacement.

Watch our ECM diagnostic video. You can also watch our ME9.7 cloning demonstration for M272 and M273 modules.

Mail-in process

  1. Confirm the ME9.7 application and choose whether you need a replacement ECM or EIS-based programming.
  2. Place your order using the options above. The subtotal updates for selected extras.
  3. Pack the required original module and any customer-supplied donor securely. Follow the current shipping instructions supplied for your order.
  4. We carry out the selected bench service and return the programmed module.

ME9.7 cloning questions

Is a replacement ECM included in the base price?

No. The used M272 V6 and M273 V8 ECMs are separate purchase options on this page. You can also supply a compatible donor. Review the selected options and subtotal before checkout.

Can you help if my original ECM cannot be read?

This ME9.7 listing offers programming using your original EIS for an additional $50. Select that option and confirm your application with us. This is separate from ordering an EIS replacement.

Does a no-start mean I need ECM cloning?

No. Identify the failed component first. If your diagnosis points to the ignition switch or steering lock, review the separate EIS cloning or ESL emulator programming services.

Will cloning add horsepower or improve fuel economy?

This listing is for replacement-module programming and cloning. It does not advertise a performance tune or fuel-economy upgrade.

Wife’s C300 stranded her in the Costco gas station, the car suddenly failed to start! After much testing & trouble shooting I fortunately found this place!!! The ESL failed and Michael absolutely has the fix. Not only with the video’s but when you call, you get a call back! I took out the Ignition and sent it and the key and just as promised, I got them and the Emulator back, put it all in and it’s never going to happen to her again! I only gave it 5 Stars because I couldn’t do 6!

There has only been a few times I received service as excellent as this. I was able to identify the issue I was having with my Mercedes from his YouTube step by step instructions. Once I contacted him the response was immediate and informative. I mailed the part from P.A. to C.A. on Sunday and received back on Wednesday morning. As soon as I plugged it in and turned the key my car started. Through Micheals instructions he was able to help me from making a simple mistake of my steering column locking up and that would have cost thousands. Its a fantastic and great service and I am so appreciative. This was a E S L reprogram on a 2008 Mercedes C3000

This is a great shop. Run by actual people. Many sites do not list a physical address or give you any confidence that you are going to get a solution to your aging Mercedes. All problems fixed and helped through the process. Thanks MBS!

I have a 2010 ML350 that was having an intermittent starting issue. I took out the EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch) and sent it to them. I know that these issues can be expensive but they did it for a much better reasonable price. They tried a basic fix but the unit was too broken. Once I received the cloned replacement, the engine started right up but I got an anti theft lockout on the radio. I messaged them and they told me it was an issue that happens on some ML's. They paid for shipping and I quickly sent it back out. The same day they received it, a new replacement was shipped out. Within the week, I received the replacement. Just installed it and now the car is starting with no more anti theft warnings and the electronic trunk hatch is working once again! (It was not operating when the EIS was out). Was so satisfying to get it working for such a reasonable price. These guys are blessed with talent and were able to do wonders for my 2010 ML!

The service that Michael provides is so valuable. I was quoted 3500 to fix my EI/ESL and was able to fix it myself with Michaels instructions and parts for around 900 including shipping. It only took a few days to get the parts back! My Mercedes would still be sitting if this service want available. Thank you Michael!
